Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Updated Labor Force and Employment Data in Philadelphia

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) most recently updated their labor force and employment related data for Philadelphia, PA. Titled “Economy at a Glance,” the list of data includes two data series: 1) Labor Force Data and 2) Nonfarm Wage and Salary Employment Data.

Some key figures for Philadelphia relate to the overall fall in unemployment from 70,659 unemployed in December 2020 to 39,624 unemployed in December 2021, from a rate of 10.2 percent to 5.8 percent. 

Total Nonfarm employment (in departments such as mining, transportation, education, hospitality, etc) also grew from about 667,700 to 699,600, a 4.7 percent increase.
