Eagles Lose Second Straight to Cowboys

The Philadelphia Eagles headed to Dallas for their second and last matchup of the regular season with their division rival, the Cowboys. But hopes for a season sweep disappeared as the team fell 33-13. It was their second straight loss and means that the Eagles and Cowboys are now tied for the lead in the NFC East.

The Eagles weren’t in the game from the start and never led. Heading into the locker room, they trailed 24-6 and aside from a Jalen Carter fumble return touchdown in the second half, the Eagles didn’t sniff the red zone.

The loss raises questions about the offensive play calling as well as defensive schemes. Particularly as the team have given up 75 points and scored just 32 in their last two outings. It also appears that Jalen Hurts quest for an MVP is likely over following a couple bad weeks late in the season.

The Eagles have now fallen to third place in the NFC, losing tiebreakers to both the 10-3 49ers and 10-3 Cowboys. They can still compete for the top seed and the first round bye that comes with it, but they’ll need to turn things around quickly. They’ll look to do that next week against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.
