The Eagles reached the NFL-mandated 85-man roster limit on Tuesday by waiving three players with an injury designation as they prepare to pack up for two days of joint practices at the Cleveland Browns ahead of Sunday’s 1 PM preseason game against the Browns. The players released were
• Wide receiver Lance Lenoir, whom the Eagles added on July 27 after Lenoir played in the spring with the USFL’s Michigan Panthers. Lenoir spent last summer in Buffalo’s Training Camp.
• Defensive back Jared Mayden joined the Eagles during the 2021 season and played in four games and 38 defensive snaps along with 62 special teams snaps.
• Cornerback Jimmy Moreland, whom the Eagles claimed off waivers from Houston in the spring. Moreland started 10 games with Washington in 2019 and 2020 before playing with the Texans last season.
NFL rosters must be reduced to 80 players by 4 PM on August 23 and then from 80 players to 53 players by 4 PM on August 30. That’s two weeks from now, and a lot of tough decisions to be made in a short period of time.
