On Monday, September 5, average state gas prices dropped below $4 for the first time in months. Today, statewide Pennsylvania gas prices averaged $3.975 which is about $0.12 less than last week.
Adding to the statewide drop in prices, the Philadelphia metro average price per gallon is $3.961 which is over a dollar cheaper than the highest recorded price per gallon of $5.119, set earlier this summer.
These drops mirror national trends as country-wide average gas prices are at their lowest since March 3.
If the trend continues, Philadelphia area residents can expect to see additional gas price decreases in the coming weeks.
