Sixers Strong Start Marred by Missed In-Season Tournament Quarterfinals

Though the Philadelphia 76ers have started the season strong, jumping out to a 12-5 record, just a game-and-a-half behind the conference leading Boston Celtics, the new in-season tournament brought disappointment. Expected to contend for the title, which comes with a $500,000 per player cash prize for winning, the Sixers fell short and will miss the quarterfinals.

In their group, which also featured the Indiana Pacers, Detroit Pistons, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Atlanta Hawks, the Sixers finished third behind both Indiana and Cleveland. They finished the four game group stage with a 2-2 record. The lone bright spot being that they finished with a positive point differential.

When the week of the quarterfinals rolls around, instead of a trip to Vegas, the Sixers will instead be visiting the Washington Wizards on December 6th and welcoming the Atlanta Hawks on December 8th. One of their biggest offensive games came earlier this year against the Wizards, when they piled on 146 points in early November.
